Thomas Mesereau: Conrad Murray Must Be Tried

Thomas Mesereau, Michael Jackson’s senior defense attorney during the 2005 trial, believes that Dr. Murray, accused of Michael Jackson’s murder, is guilty and should be tried so the Jackson family can find peace. "I have mixed feelings about this trial. On one hand, I want the Jackson family to see justice being served. Based on what I know about this case, this doctor’s behavior was very ugly and disgusting, and he acted in a very careless and foolish way. He should have told (Michael) that this (Propofol injection) was dangerous and that it shouldn’t be done at home because we don’t have the facilities and sufficient help. As a specialist doctor, he should have acted like that. I think he should be tried so that both the Jackson family is helped and there is a warning to doctors not to do such things." Mesereau, however, is also worried about the performance of Murray’s defense lawyers: "I think the lawyers, in their role defending the accused, are trying to tarnish Michael’s good name. I don’t want to see autopsy photos and things like that. I’m glad that the prosecution is pursuing him (Murray), but my concern is that the defense lawyers will devalue Michael and stain his name so that the result might end up benefiting the accused."
