New Year Message

Michael recorded a special Christmas message for German children during his recent trip to Germany, which was released last week via the internet and other media. Michael’s message was as follows:

“Good evening, kids. Merry Christmas! When I create music, I always hope that my music will bring joy to many people. If that happens, I’ll be very happy. Making others happy makes a person happy. Unfortunately, there are many children who aren’t happy. In Germany and in many other countries.

During Christmas it’s even harder for those kids, because at Christmas they see what they don’t have. For some, maybe it’s a small gift; for some, maybe a warm meal; for some, maybe a family; for some, maybe a little bit of love.

That’s why I need your help. Let’s work together and help those children. Let’s reach those who are alone. Let’s tell them, ‘You’re not alone.’

This year, I’m speaking to you kids in Germany only, and I’m sending you small gifts. If you help me, then next year we’ll do the same thing—but in more countries. We’ll talk together, maybe even sing together, and share the gifts together. Let’s think big. Let’s find more people to join us in our efforts. Here, across Europe—and then across the whole world. We can do this!

To all the adults, I want to say this: For us, many things seem important. Sometimes we think we’re important ourselves. But we’re not. Nothing is more important than our children. They are our future. They can revive the world. It’s our duty to stand by them, to guide them, to encourage them to move forward, to help them, and to love them. Let’s encourage them to move toward their dreams, and let’s help them as their parents, friends, and relatives so that their dreams have a good chance of coming true.

I’m looking forward to the New Year so I can work with you kids and create an organization to help other children. I promise you that if you take part in this, you’ll feel good and you’ll have a great time!

Merry Christmas, I love you!”
