Michael Jackson fans’ collective protest against the media: the word “Jacko” is banned!

In 1997, Michael Jackson expressed his dissatisfaction in an interview with Barbara Walters about the fact that some people call him “Jacko.” He said: “My name is Jackson, not Jacko! Where did that name come from? From one of those English newspapers. I’m not an animal. I’m a human being. I have feelings. I’m not stupid.”

“Jacko” was first used by local English newspapers in the form of “Wacko Jacko - Jacko the fool” to refer to Michael Jackson.

Michael Jackson fans have been working on a collective move on social networks for a long time, and as a result, for some time now we haven’t seen the use of the insulting and racist word “Jacko” on USA Today and CBS. mjjjusticeproject.wordpress.com was the starting point of this path. They launched an online petition against the use of the word “Jacko” on CBS television and finally managed to reach their goal.

In the next step, mjandjustice۴some.blogspot.com published an open letter to the media asking them to stop using this word. Fans can sign this open letter in here to support this collective effort.

Dr. Patrick Treacy, Michael’s doctor, and Joe Vogel, who wrote the book Earth Song, have also signed the letter.
