Jermaine Jackson: My Brother Was Not Killed by Demerol
Jermaine Jackson, Michael’s older brother, says that part of the reason he wrote his new book, You Are Not Alone, was to fight the claims made by the defense lawyers of the man accused of killing his brother. He says the lawyers are trying to portray Michael in a bad light.
He says that in his book he tried to counter their claim that addiction to a strong painkiller called Demerol was the cause of Michael’s physical weakness:
"Maybe sometimes he used Demerol, and that was because he had severe pain. But that’s not what killed Michael."
Tomorrow, the process of selecting jury members will continue in court, and the defense and the prosecution will hold a face-to-face question-and-answer session with the selected jurors. The defense lawyers say they are shocked that these people feel they already know everything about this case even before the trial sessions begin.
