Steve Harvey’s Support for Michael
On December 18, Black comedian Steve Harvey, in an interview with EUR, brought up comments about Michael Jackson and, as always, defended him. Steve Harvey is one of Michael’s very close friends. In many of his radio shows, he has spoken up in defense of Michael against his recent accusations. He believes that the accusations of sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy brought against Michael, as well as the accusations from 1993 against him, are completely false.

“Look, there’s a deal here. If you rape my son… my son!… you can’t buy me. I want you, not your money. And real men—real people who have real families—feel that way. If someone sexually exploits your daughter, they can’t buy you with money. That’s how real people are. So how does it happen that one day you find someone you can buy with money?”
“You don’t get all 20 million. Your lawyers take half of it. And when you pay your taxes, then you finally realize where you stand. You say, ‘Is $2 million worth it for abusing my son?’ And that’s how I know it’s made up. It’s only about money. Because real parents love their children so much that you can’t do something like that to them and then run away.”
“‘Come on, get over here. You did something to my son. I’ll get you. You can’t buy me. I’ll get you. I want you to go to prison. I can turn your life into hell for fourteen years.’”
Steve Harvey confirmed that he and Michael are friends and that they talk on the phone two to three times a week.
“(Michael) is a different kind of person. Could I have done some of the things he’s done? No. First of all, no child comes to my house because I’m 48 years old and I don’t have any eight-year-old friends.”
Steve Harvey believes that the children are only Michael’s friends, and that prosecutor Tom Sneddon has falsely accused him because in 1993 he wasn’t able to prove anything.
“The prosecutor has a grudge against Michael. Because he thinks that the first time (in 1993), Michael managed to escape his grasp. Michael Jackson only paid those people to let him go. Twenty million dollars is a huge amount for you, but it’s nothing to Michael. He paid them just to leave him alone. And they went on with their lives.”
After Eminem’s video “Just Lose It” aired on television, Michael called Steve Harvey’s radio program, and Steve Harvey joined in condemning the video. After that, many listeners called the show and admitted, “It’s just a video. You shouldn’t feel that way about it.”
In response, Steve Harvey says:
“Look, it’s easy for you to say that because that video isn’t about you. Look, if they portrayed you in that video as if you were an abuser of a child, then you would be just as hurt as Michael Jackson. But look, people forget this. I really think Eminem acted unfairly because Michael is dealing with custody of his children. He’s fighting for his life and for his children. But you, being so indifferent to his feelings, make a video about such a man while he’s in the middle of a crisis.”
When he was asked whether the accusations could end Michael’s music recording career, he said:
“The end for Michael is different from the end for others. Michael’s latest album sold more than two or three million copies and was considered a failure. And that’s because his Thriller album sold 40 million copies. Anyone else who sold three million copies would throw a party at home. But no one else can sell 40 million copies of their album.”
