Defense Lawyers Request to Delay Michael Jackson’s Trial

The defense lawyers submitted a motion to the court on December 10, which was published in the press the day before. In this motion, the defense lawyers asked that the trial date—scheduled for January 31—be postponed. The defense lawyers say they based this request on the review of documents that have not yet been provided to them. These documents include a list of witnesses, some of whom do not even exist. The defense lawyers said that Tom Sneddon is not prepared for the January trial, and that arranging a re-inspection of Michael’s home was done so that he could push the trial date back. In this motion, the defense lawyers stated that delaying Michael Jackson’s trial is necessary to protect his right to a fair trial. The defense lawyers asked the judge to order all documents that the prosecution obtained during the last inspection of Neverland, Michael’s home, to be held.
