Great news for Michael Jackson as four titles in his catalog make a dent on this week's Billboard charts. However, that's not the only good news to report as ten titles in his catalog each post a 100%+ sales increase. Cumulatively, Jackson's Top 12 sellers jumped 138% in sales shifting 27,166 units last week (up from 11,397 units sold the week before.) Spending it's 27th week on the album charts, the artist's platinum eligible Number Ones album posted a 138% increase selling 8,660 units. That figure was good enough to land Jackson back on the Billboard 200 @ #134 and Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart @ #49. Meanwhile, over on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Catalog Chart, Jackson also made significant strides as his Thriller opus made a 141% increase moving into the Top 5 selling almost 6,000 units last week. Also making it's re-entry into the Top 20, Jackson's Greatest Hits - HIStory Volume I posted a 190% increase selling over 3,000 units. Billboard's Top Pop Catalog Chart similarily bore good news for Jackson as Thriller and Greatest Hits - HIStory Volume I each re-entered the Top 50 respectively. On this week's Billboard Comprehensive Music Videos Chart, Jackson's Number Ones DVD also made a healthy climb moving up from #19 to #13. The triple platinum DVD made a whopping 108% increase selling almost 5,000 copies last week. The United States wasn't the only territory to see a surge in Jackson catalog sales as Number Ones and Thriller each re-entered the UK Top 200 Album Chart. Furthermore, based on mid week sales reports, Number Ones looks set to crack next week's UK Top 50 Album Chart while Off The Wall, Thriller, Bad, and Dangerous could also see similar chart gains since retailer HMV is offering a special promotion on these Jackson titles. Ireland, Canada, and Australia also got into the Jackon action last week as Number Ones along with other albums made significant gains. For the complete rundown, see chart information below.
