The doctor who was at Michael Jackson's side the day he rushed to court from the hospital said the stresses of his child molestation trial are taking their toll psychologically on the “King of Pop,” but, as far as he's concerned, Jackson is not faking it. Dr. Bert Weiner.JPG "To me, there's no question this is a genuine situation that had nothing to do with an attempt to avoid his court appearances," said Dr. Bert Weiner, head of the Emergency Department, Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital, where Jackson came for treatment before court for an injured back. In an exclusive interview with Inside Edition Senior Correspondent Jim Moret, Weiner explained why he went with Jackson that day, in a high speed ride from the hospital to the Santa Maria courthouse: "They were expecting not to be able to make it in time and therefore wanted me to come along to explain to the judge the urgency of the situation." "It was kind of cool running going down the freeway like that," Weiner admitted. And, inside the SUV, Weiner told Inside Edition, Jackson was getting ready: "He was having some final touches put to his clothing and makeup." It was the second time Jackson was rushed to court from the hospital. The first time, on March 10th -- the so-called pajama drama -- Jackson's two SUVs raced at high speed to the courthouse after the judge said he would have him arrested if he wasn't there within the hour. Weiner treated the singer on that occasion too, but didn’t travel with him to court. Then, last Monday, Jackson was back in the ER, and this time Weiner agreed to accompany him to court to reassure the judge. "I went right to the judge's chambers to actually testify under oath,” Weiner told Inside Edition. Weiner wouldn’t discuss specifics of Jackson's condition, to protect the doctor-patient relationship, but told Inside Edition Jackson is on pain medication for back problems. ”That should be sufficient to carry him though until the situation resolves itself," Weiner said.
