GERSHWIN AWARD.

Many consider Paul McCartney among the best singer-song writer of late 20th century.The British musician was one of four members of Beetles with fellow song writer John Lenon writing almost 300 songs during the band's 10 year run.Last wednesday President Barack Obama presented Paul McCartney with an award in a star studded event at the White House.British music legend Paul McCartney was invited to the White House on wednesday to receive the Gershwin Award for popular songs named after American song writer brothers George & Ira Gershwin.This award was presented to McCartney in recognition of almost five decades of extraordinary contribution to American music.President Obama presented McCartney with the award calling him the most successful song writer in history.Obama said it was a distinct pleasure for him to present the America's highest award for popular music on behalf of a greatful nation.President Obama paid tribute to the Beetles saying when Beetle mania storm the music world in the 1960s the band blew the walls down for everyone.The evening included an austere cast of performers who sang their own versions of McCartney hits.The highlight of the evening was the guest of honour who dedicated one of his classic hits to Mrs.Obama.At a news conference in the library of congress before the White House presentation for the Gershwin award,the former Beetle paid tribute to the award's namesake,the legendary song writing brothers George & Ira Gershwin.Gershwin compositions are the most cherished of American popular songs.One classic is 'Summertime'.Paul McCartney said he knew these songs and that made winning the Gershwin award especially meaningful.Previous recepients of this award include 23 time Grammy award winner Stivie Wonder and singer-song writer Paul Simon.

LUNASA'S SHOW TODAY.

Today the Irish group 'Lunasa' came for an interview in BORDERCROSSINGS.The group is currently touring the United States.It comprises of Sean Smyth,Kevin Crawford,Trevor Hutchinson,Cillian Vallely and Paul Mehaan.They play instrumental music which is still popular in Ireland & England unlike in the U.S.It is all flutes,pipes & whistles that they play.Sometimes Irish dancing is mixed with their music.The group has made albums 'the story so far ......','the kinnity session','redwood','otherworld' etc.

Melanie Theona Interview.

Today Melanie Theona came for an interview during BORDERCROSSINGS.She has been number 1 singer in places like Sweden,Switzerland etc.She said she came from a singing family where both her parents were natural singers and when she was three she was singing along with her father.So singing came naturally to her.She is now planning to have a world tour with Alicia Key & visit places including Spain,Portugal,Amsterdam,France,Netherlands,Switzerland,Sweden.She sounds really,really good.She is a nice person,feel good,looks great & has a lot of personality.During today's show she also talked of her chances to act in films in future.Her debut album is 'The Bridge' & its first song 'Monday Morning' was played during BORDERCROSSINGS TODAY.For more information about her do visit her website

IT WAS STANLEY JORDAN'S SHOW.

A legend in music industry & guitarist Stanley Jordan appeared for an interview with his guitar on the 30th of
April.He talked & played some of his music with tapping,touching type of playing his guitar.He is a 4 times GR-
AMMY nominee and his recent album 'State of Nature' is due to come out at the Stanley Jordan website in a
couple of weeks at stanleyjordan.com.He started his lessons with the piano at the age of 7.His 25 year old dau-ghter Julia is also into music & has a nice voice and is a singer & song writer.Stanley holds around 250 shows
each year.

GUEST APPEARANCE.

Today,ahead of the GRAMMY night this weekend Duffy who is currently touring the U.S. appeared in the Bor-
dercrossings show to talk about her life,music,love,family etc.Larry played her album 'Mercy' which is the
1st Welsh album to the charts in 25 years.Duffy also talked about her debut album 'Rockferry'.She is plan-
ning to tour Japan during September and Australia in January.So fans there can enjoy her tour.She is now
24.

Today on Bordercrossings,on the GRAMMY week,ahead of Oscars ceremony this weekend Adele Atkins was
interviewed & she talked about her music & life and also about her forthcoming album.Tomorrow in the s-
how Larry will interview the British star Duffy.

It is Christmas time & on the Christmas eve one of the greatest singers of all time Urethra Franklin will appear
for an interview in Bordercrossings and will talk about Urethra's new Christmas album.And on the boxing day
on the 26th Frankie Valli & Kevin Costner will come to talk before the mikes during Bordercrossings.

Today, ist ed the 4th of July is the United States of America's Indepence day & during Border Crossings'
program today, host Larry London played some patriotic music, 'it is your land' & the Canadian singer
Celine Dion's 'God Bless America' etc.People all over America & all Americans are celebrating the day
with picnics,barbecues,parties etc.
